Joan M. (Holden) Hayden, 89, of Martville passed away at home on Monday, May 4, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Phoenix, New York on September 27, 1936 to Francis A. and Irene L. Holden. Joan was known for her meticulous attention to detail and these skills made her extremely good at anything she accomplished. Joan had been employed as a secretary at Hayden Bros. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and the times spent at their camp in Cape Vincent. She was also incredibly proud to have five generations. Upon her retirement, Joan and her husband, Skip would spend winters in Zephyrhills, Florida where they met many new friends. She was a member of the Martville Methodist Church.

Joan is survived by her children, Roxanne (Larry) Wavle, Harry McCarty and Cindy McCarty; her grandchildren, Stacie (Carl) France, Katrina (Boe) Bonnie, Craig (Meranda) Hofmann, Jolene McCarty, Alex McCarty and Megan McCarty; her siblings, Carol Harris, Francis (Sharon) Holden, Elizabeth (Richard) Waite, Dennis (Joy) Holden and Gary (Caroline) Holden; 13 great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; her step-daughters, Debbie, Darlene and Tracey Hayden; her step-granddaughter, Ashley Lewin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Ralph “Skip” Hayden; her brothers, Robert E., Charles F. and Patrick M. Holden.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026 with services to follow all at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. After the services on Saturday, all are welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Joan’s Life at the Fulton Elks Lodge, 57 Pierce Drive in Fulton.
