John W. Parrish, 75, of Fulton, passed away at The Manor at Seneca Hill after a courageous five-year battle with esophageal cancer. John was born on July 1, 1950 in Fulton, New York to the late Wayne and Irene (Pyzdrowski) Parrish. John was a lifelong resident of Fulton and worked for Nestlé for 34 years, remaining dedicated to the company until its closing in 2003. Following that, he proudly built a second career as a journeyman carpenter, retiring in 2018 with Carpenters Union 277. Known for his strong work ethic, and good sense of humor, John was someone friends and family could always count on. John found his greatest joy in spending time with his children. He loved taking them to Yankee baseball games, cheering for his sons on the wrestling mat for Fulton, and watching his daughter play lacrosse. Those moments meant the world to him and created memories his family will cherish forever. He is survived by his loving children: Jonathan (Jewels) of Parish, Nicholas (Julia) of Fulton, and Elizabeth of Watertown; his former wife and the mother of his children, Jennifer (Soule) Gerni of Watertown; his sisters Linda (Dick) Smith of New Haven, Debbie Parrish of Florida, and Lisa (George) Davies of Fulton. John also leaves behind many aunts and uncles; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. John's friends from Bill W. were a constant source of support and fellowship throughout his remarkable 42-year recovery journey, which he carried with pride and gratitude. John's family and friends will remember him for his kindness, dedication, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friends he cherished, and the many lives he touched along his path of recovery and service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo St., Fulton with burial to follow in Mount Adnah Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton.
