Obituary

Marlene Ann Bracy, 89, of Fulton passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026 at Francis House in Syracuse surrounded by her loving family. She was the only child of Frank “Jesse” Southworth and Helen Morrison of Fulton, where she was born and raised.

In her earlier years, Marlene devoted herself to raising her children, preparing homemade meals, and cherishing family gatherings. She had a vibrant spirit and loved dancing, day trips to the casino, attending movies, taking cruises, shopping, dining out, and staying connected with friends through Facebook in her later years. Always active and independent, she maintained her home and driving as long as she was able.

Marlene enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, beginning at the telephone company and later retiring from the Nestlé Company after many years of dedicated service. She truly valued her work and the close relationships she formed with her colleagues, whom she considered family.

A woman of remarkable strength and beauty, Marlene survived cancer twice and always took pride in her appearance and presenting herself with elegance and wit. Known for her straightforward nature, she was unapologetically honest in her feelings and opinions. She was also a proud American, a devoted animal lover, and a warm, flirtatious soul who brought joy to those around her.

In her final days, Marlene demonstrated extraordinary courage, choosing to forgo medical interventions and spending her remaining time on her own terms. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her resilience, humor, and unwavering independence.

Marlene is survived by her devoted companion, Jack Carter of Camillus, New York, who brought great happiness to her in her senior years; her five children: Kim (Tim) Malone, Karen (George) Tyler, Kelly (Robert) LaRock of all of Hannibal, Karla (Gregory) Eastman of Oswego and Donald “Jamie” (Carrie Dodge) Bracy of Daytona Beach, Florida; her “bonus daughter”, Stacy (Paul) Moore of Baldwinsville; her dear best friend, Cindy Orr of Baldwinsville; her grandson, Jason Malone of Hannibal; her granddaughter, Chelsea (Craig) Simons of Baldwinsville; three great grandchildren; many cherished friends in the Fulton community; her two beloved cats, who provided comfort and companionship in her later years.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2026 with services to follow at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton.
